It owes this unique taste to carefully selected, high-quality base wines and an extremely complex production process. The wines are distilled on the lees in a traditional two-stage process, from rough distillation to fine distillation, resulting in a distillate of the highest quality. The fresh distillates are then transported to Asbach’s maturation facility in Ottersweier at the foot of the Black Forest. There, they are initially aged in small Limousin oak barrels. Once the distillates have reached full maturity and developed their characteristic bouquet, they are transferred to large vats made of Spessart oak. This allows the brandy to develop its harmonious character.

The brandy originates from Hugo Asbach, a native of Cologne. Asbach learned the craft of distilling wine in France and began distilling in Rüdesheim in 1892. This popular German brandy quickly became popular among spirits lovers in Germany, but also captured the hearts of brandy fans all over the world.
